We can help you change thought patterns that keep you stuck and help you develop coping skills to handle emotions in a healthier way.
Recovery from eating disorders is a step-by-step process that involves changing how you think and feel about eating and yourself. We can help you work toward recovery and a more positive life.
We can identify underlying factors such as anxiety, perfectionism, or trauma that are contributing to the eating disorder.
We can work on developing coping skills so you have other options to choose from besides restricting, binging, or purging.
You do not have to be underweight to be diagnosed with Anorexia. In fact most people who have Anorexia are not underweight. Someone can be in a larger body and meet criteria for Anorexia too. Anorexia is characterized by restriction and significant weight loss.
BMI is not an accurate measure of where a healthy weight is for a person. Multiple factors go into an ideal body weight, and an ideal body weight for one person is different from an ideal body weight for someone else. People can be healthy at many different weights. I will collaborate with your doctor and/or dietitian to determine what a healthy weight is for you. A healthy weight is where your body wants to be versus where you think your body should be. We can help you learn how to trust your body.
Anorexia is Anorexia regardless of your weight. People in many different body types at many different sizes are affected by Anorexia. If someone loses a significant amount of weight in a short amount of time, is restricting their diet, and experiencing significant body image distress, they absolutely meet criteria for a diagnosis.

Using CBT, I can give you personalized strategies to challenge negative core beliefs that drive Anorexia and help you reframe them so you can view yourself and the world around you in a more positive, balanced way.
Anorexia can come with a lot of secrecy and shame. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space to explore thoughts, emotions, and underlying causes that trigger restricting.
